Dear Parents/Guardians,

Today it was reported that one of our female high school students was approached at the Wells Fargo Bank on Broadway yesterday at approximately 3:00 pm by an African American male in his thirties. The male later approached the student in his car, a black, four-door vehicle with lightly tinted windows.

This matter has been reported to the South Amboy Police Department and they are in the process of investigating the incident.

As a school, we are sending this to our parent community to keep you informed. I ask that you speak to your son/daughter about being aware of his/her surroundings and to report any suspicious behavior to the police.

Sincerely,

Sean Dunphy

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Happy New Year!!!

Since we have returned from Winter Break there have been an increased number of issues related to students using cell phones, more at the upper grades, during the course of the school day. We have spoken with students to remind them that although they may have a cell phone in school it cannot be used during breakfast, in the gym before school, in the hallways, at lunch, or as they are packing up at the end of the day. For your reference, please review the following items:

  • In the case of an emergency the students can visit one of the offices with the teacher’s permission to call home.

  • Staff members will communicate cancellation of practices/events directly with the parents through Remind101 or other communication apps.

  • Students caught using their phone during school hours will be assessed a consequence as per the student code of conduct and have their phone confiscated. A parent/guardian will have to pick the phone up from school.

  • The school assumes no responsibility in any circumstances whatsoever for the loss, destruction or theft of any cell phones or similar devices that are brought to school at any time and to any extra-curricular or after school activity.

We ask that you stress these points to your child as well so that we can avoid any issues in the future.

Sincerely,

Sean Dunphy
