Dear Parents/Guardians:

Although we are in the midst of a school closure due to COVID-19 we are moving forward with our registrations for new students in the 2020-21 school year. Students who are currently enrolled in South Amboy Elementary School do not need to complete the registration process but do need to submit updated health records at a later time.

For the first time, we will be doing our registrations online. Please go to https://genesis.genesisedu.com/southamboy/openReg to begin completing the registration process. Before doing so please review the following:

  • Pre-Kindergarten students must turn 4 on or before October 31, 2020 (Policy #5111).

  • Kindergarten students must turn 5 on or before October 31, 2020 (Policy #5111).

  • You must live in the City of South Amboy. Some homes have mailing addresses within South Amboy but are zoned for other districts. Please see this map for more information or call Amy Wolfe at (732) 525-2118 ext. 2221

We also need the following items to be uploaded when registering or that the items are emailed to [email protected]. Please make sure that the documents listed are sent or we will not be able to proceed with the registration process.

  • Primary Proof of Residency: Property Tax bill, deed, lease agreement, mortgage statement, etc. (Please provide one of these items)

  • Secondary Proof of Residency: License, car registration, utility bill, bank statement, other bills, etc. (Please provide two of these items)

  • Statement of Domicile

  • Original Birth Certificate

  • Current Student Physical

  • Current Immunization Records

After reviewing the items someone from the school will call you between 9:00 and 12:30 and go over all information included in the online registration. We will provide details for a parent orientation at a later date.

We are very pleased that your child will be attending our school and look forward to providing your child with the very best education possible.

Sincerely,

Sean Dunphy

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This coming week, May 4-8, is Teacher Appreciation Week.  Please see below an easy way to honor your teacher during this virtual learning period that we are going through:

Students to Recognize Teachers Going the Extra Mile for Home Learning with Brainly’s ‘Online Educator of the Year’ Awards

Students can award the best online educators now through May 8, and the winning teacher in each category will receive $1,000 towards classroom resources

April 30, 2020 ⏤  The coronavirus pandemic has forced students and educators to adapt, essentially overnight, to the new reality of distance learning and instruction from afar. Teachers are facing the Herculean challenge of creating engaging, interactive online lesson plans, motivating kids to stay focused, and ensuring every student receives the help they need.

That’s why Brainly, the world’s largest online learning community of students and parents, has launched the Online Educator of the Year Award to recognize educators who have enacted inclusive solutions for students to finish out the school year at home. The scholarship is in partnership with DonorsChoose, Codecademy, and ClassTag.

“In this challenging time, we’ve seen many go above and beyond in their new virtual settings through meaningful, accessible learning. Even before the pandemic, the job of a teacher has never called for a typical 9-5 workday, and now we’re seeing teachers put in even more hours than ever before to ensure their students don’t fall behind while learning from home,” says Eric Oldfield, Chief Business Officer of Brainly.

Now through May 8, current U.S. middle-school and high-school students (ages 13 and up) can nominate and vote for their favorite educators three categories: Academic Teachers, Administrators, and Extracurricular Instructors.

The winning educators will each receive $1,000 towards classroom resources through their partners at DonorsChoose, as well as a featured post on Brainly.com and a one-year Brainly Plus subscription-- not to mention major bragging rights.

All students have to do to nominate a teacher is write a 4-5 sentence response to the question: “How has an educator been exceptional in your transition to remote learning?” As an added incentive, the students who nominate the winning educators will also receive a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, a Codecademy Pro student scholarship, and a one-year Brainly Plus subscription.

“We’re calling on everyone impacted by school closures and the transition to online education to help us celebrate the teachers, instructors, administrators, coaches, and mentors that have made a difference in the lives of the students who need them. These exceptional educators are finding new creative ways to connect with their students-- leaving sidewalk chalk math problems outside students’ homes for them to solve, teleconferencing poetry readings, dropping off packets to students without reliable internet access. It’s truly heartwarming, and these amazing educators deserve to be recognized,” says Oldfield.

Parents, Students and Staff,
Our Fourth Grade Living museum lives on... virtually.  We are proud of the students for participating and taking on this task from home this year.  They worked hard writing a biography report and studying about their famous person. We hope you enjoy seeing them "morph" into character and we know you will surely learn a lot!
