Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope you are all surviving this crazy time.

1.) As most of you know our third marking period came to a close last week.  Our report cards have been posted on Genesis.  You can see them by logging onto Genesis > Grading > Available Report Cards.

2.) Mrs. Masella has put together two videos for students and parents.  You can check them out here or on the South Amboy Elementary School Facebook page:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKxNWbo9mrA&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3Sx6JFCcgP-JoF3JmiikuhcHnIMse0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEIB27X0h-U&t=68s
3.) Our Spring Break ends on 4/17 and we return to schooling at home on 4/20.  Please keep in mind that students are responsible for checking in for attendance and all work due during the course of our school year.  A student who submits little to no work during this home instruction time has a chance to fail for the marking period as well as be retained.  Luckily we have not seen too much of that throughout the last four weeks.  Work submission is mandatory!

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Spring Break and we will connect again on 4/20.

Sincerely,
Sean Dunphy

Dear Parents/Guardians:

There is an all call going out tonight, 4/7/20.  Here is what the message contains:

Once again I hope everyone is safe and healthy, and practicing social distancing

As our virtual learning environment continues please make sure you remember that students are responsible for checking in each day and all work will be graded and is due daily and in some cases by the end of each week.  This is imperative, and lack of attendance and work production could result in poor grades, which could also result in retention. A letter regarding virtual learning was emailed to parents on Monday, and a copy of it can be found on the principal’s page of the elementary school website.  Please check out the South Amboy Elementary School webpage and Facebook page for any news, videos and updates.

Have a great evening! Sincerely,
Sean Dunphy

4/5/20

Good Afternoon,

We hope that you and your families are all safe as we go through this challenging time. On behalf of myself, Dr. G, and our entire staff we want to thank you all for being flexible as we all continue to adjust to distance learning. The first three weeks have not been easy, but through open lines of communication, we have made the transition a success and have learned more each day. We ask that anyone completing work at home through a teacher-provided packet to please return the completed packet no later than 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

With that being said, we are going to shift our instruction and lessons completely online following our return from Spring Break. Our plan is to provide weekly checklists for our students and parents with links embedded to make this transition easier for all. We recognize that for some, this transition may not be easy but we are here to support you.

The last day we can provide assistance for technical issues from the Elementary School will be April 7, 2020. We will continue to work remotely from home, but may not be able to provide resources in a timely manner. Over the next day or so we ask that you please do the following:

  • Go to www.clever.com/in/southamboy

  • Ask your child to sign in through Google using their school information:

  • Once you sign-in, locate the i-Ready icon and click on it.

  • If you are unable to sign into i-Ready on any of your devices, please complete this form so that we can assist you further.

We also want to direct you to the following messages sent by the Superintendent of Schools Mr. Diaz.

Sincerely, Sean Dunphy

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We understand that this is an abnormal experience, dealing with the virtual learning and COVID-19.  We are finding that parents are requesting information on how to deal with challenging behaviors.  Below is an article on how to manage these behaviors.  Please feel free to take a look:

Thank you and stay safe,

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Traditionally we have had our PK and Kindergarten registration during late March through early April.  This year due to the unforeseen circumstances with COVID-19, we are postponing the registration process.  Please begin to get the paperwork together for submission which can be found at:

http://es.sapublicschools.com/common/pages/DisplayFile.aspx?itemId=11727235

As in years past, we will NOT accept any registration packets unless the packet is complete.  We are also not responsible for making copies of any papers that need to be submitted.  We will disseminate more information as to when we will open up the process again sometime after Spring Break.

Thank you and stay safe!

Sincerely,
Sean Dunphy

Dear Parents/ Guardians:

There was an all call last night on 3/23.  Here is what the message contains:

First of all I hope everyone is safe and healthy.  Secondly, if you have work that needs to be submitted to the teachers, you can do this by dropping off the work in the drop boxes outside the main office entrance.  If you decide to drop off the work. Please make sure you put it in the correct box one is for grades K-2 and the other for grades 3-5, and make sure that your student’s name is on the work.  The drop boxes will be checked once per day around 1 pm.

Remember that students are responsible for checking in each day and all work will be graded and is due at the end of each week. Sincerely, Sean Dunphy Principal ~ SAES
